Jake's Down South

I would rather have passed this information on via email to the restaurant directly, however, could not find an email address. At one time, I would have rated Jake's a 10+ for their selection of Cajun/Creole foods and the close similarity with recipes from the Louisiana area. Their Cajun/Creole food was the best I have tasted anywhere in the Province. However, the menu has been revised and only one Creole Dish remains -- Jumbalaya. It is doubtful that I will return unless I hear that at least the Pub-club PoBoy is back on the menu.

Scrumptuous and they often have awesome events with great guests!

I often travel to Grande Prairie for work and stay at the Service Plus next door. I usually eat at the bar attached to Jake's, The Lion's Den.The kitchen serves both the bar and restaurant. I tried an odd choice for soup last night...Roasted Garlic and Apple. Creamy, thick and delicious! I would have to say it was the best soup I have ever had in a restaurant ! The staff has always been good, both the servers and management!

The food was ok....but the girls in there serving were absolutely RUDE and made you feel like you were imposing on their time....so not impressed and will NEVER go back. Being treated like that when you are paying for dinner and service is absolutely uncalled for.

Absolutely the best restaurant in G.P.!! Terrific staff and management. Terrific food and service. Just a perfect friendly atmosphere.

We go out for dinner, probably too much but our favorite in Grande Prairie is Jake's Down South. The staff....waitress, servers and if you are lucky enough to have the manageress come around to your table as well then you are in for a treat of feeling welcome.

Wow not impressed.

The French onion soup was good but the New York Steak Lasagne was just noodles and cheese. Not to mention the seasonal Vegetable Medley obviously came from a bag. The waitress took too long in a nearly vacant restaurant to notice my dissatisfaction only to just take it off my bill. She should have offered me something else but didn't.

On the other hand the Whopper at BK on the way home was pretty good.

An interesting menu selection. Surprisingly good children's fare. The Jack Daniel's Steak was quite tasty as was the bourbon lasagna. Worth a visit. I'll be back!
